On Friday 28 April 1967 a dome-shaped object was sighted over my home town of Brixham in Devon at around 1,600 ft at around noon for approximately one hour. A door was seen in the side of the object and it had been seen by the HM Coastguard station at Berry Head. And myself.
Scoff and titter ye not, but, we did. My school ‘girlfriend’ at the time, Hilary, and myself were mitching off (truant, bunking, skipping class, playing hookey, or what ever you may call it) from the dreaded P.E. session and instead of running out along the headland we nipped behind the the caretakers shed and we compared notes. 🙂 Bearing in mind we were only eleven.
I reported the incident to my Teacher, Mrs Memory, and as happened her husband was interested in UFO’s also, she told him and he then wrote to his friend Sir Frederick Bennett M.P. who owned Kingswear Castle, a small fortification secured on the rocks to the entrance of the River Dart.
Sure, in style came back a letter stating that nothing had been sighted or reported to the authorities and was probably just a school boys imgination. I knew better, and only recently, in the last fifteen years this has been revealed that it did actually happen, it was reported and noted in open Government files at that time.
So, who were inside the craft? was it aliens who look like what we have been brainwashed into believing they might appear? or furry creatures like the ‘Tribbles’ from the original Star Trek series or even ‘Mogwai’s’ born of the Gremlins? I doubt it, but what if they did land and then made attempts to communicate, how would we begin to do just that.
…………… Call me a coward, but you wouldnt see my arse for dust!
